The Gstaad Züglete (Bernese-German for 'move') is the valley's authentic alpine cattle-descent festival. On a Saturday in early September — 5 September in 2026 — farmers move their cows from the high pastures down through the Promenade to Vorschess. The Trechlerclub opens the procession around 09:30; the first Zügleten follows. At 11:30 there is a lunch break with a short Menuhin Festival concert at the Kapälli, then the procession resumes. A Märet (farmers' market) runs all day with regional cheeses, dried beef, bread and music. Restaurants along the Promenade — Rialto, Mango, Pizzeria Arc-en-Ciel — serve extended lunch; Posthotel Rössli and Michel's Stallbeizli do the traditional Älpler menus.
