About this event
The Saanenland Alpaufzug (spring cattle ascent) is the less-photographed twin of the autumn Züglete. Between late May and late June, weather and grass growth permitting, farmers drive their herds up from village barns to the high pastures. Each valley farm runs its own Alpaufzug; the processions start at or before dawn. There is no single ticketed event — locals and in-the-know visitors follow one of the farms (Gstaad, Saanen, Feutersoey, Lauenen all have them) for the morning. A hearty Älpler breakfast or lunch at Michel's Stallbeizli, Restaurant Rössli Feutersoey or Berghaus Wispile is the traditional close. Exact dates depend on snowmelt; our concierge confirms them weekly in May.
