Christmas Eve (24 December) is the primary celebration for Swiss families. Restaurant Chesery, LEONARD's and La Bagatelle run special Christmas Eve tasting menus that typically sell out by mid-November. Posthotel Rössli — family-run in Gstaad since 1845 — serves a more traditional Christmas Eve with fondue, raclette and wood-panelled Stübli atmosphere. Christmas Day (25 December) is a gentler day: Le Grand & La Terrasse at Gstaad Palace opens for a long five-course Christmas lunch from 12:00, and Le Cerf in Rougemont serves what locals call the best Christmas-Day moitié-moitié fondue in the Alps.
