Every restaurant taking bookings for 31 December 2026, ranked and annotated.
New Year's Eve is the single most important dining night of the year in Gstaad. Every hotel restaurant runs a gala dinner; every chalet restaurant fills; the mountain restaurants above the village typically run special late evening services with fireworks viewing. Prices are 50-100% higher than a normal winter evening. Dress code is strict almost everywhere. Tables must be booked in November or early December at the latest for the top restaurants. Palace, Le Grand Bellevue and The Alpina all run full gala programmes — 6-9 course tasting menus at CHF 480-750 per person, with separate dress codes (black tie at the Palace), private dining rooms, champagne receptions, midnight fireworks. These are essentially sold out by early November.
Chesery, LEONARD's, Sommet and La Bagatelle run slightly less formal but similarly priced New Year's programmes — 5-7 courses at CHF 320-480 per person. Book by late November.
Village chalet restaurants (Olden, Chlösterli, Posthotel Rössli) run mid-range New Year's menus at CHF 180-280. These book by mid-December for 4-top tables, later for 2-tops. The mountain restaurants running late evening services (Wasserngrat, Rinderberg Spitz) need booking 6-8 weeks ahead.
