Michelin Restaurants in Gstaad (2026)

Every Gstaad valley entry in the Michelin Guide 2026, with what you need to know before booking.

Gstaad has three Michelin-starred restaurants within a kilometre of each other — Chesery, LEONARD's at Le Grand Bellevue, and Sommet at The Alpina Gstaad. Together they make the Saanenland the most densely-starred mountain destination in Switzerland. Beyond the three stars, the Michelin Guide 2026 lists a handful of other Gstaad valley restaurants as recommended — kitchens that missed the star but are serious enough to deserve the reference. This is the full 2026 list, with booking lead times, dress codes, tasting-menu pricing and context for each room.

The stars matter most for what they signal about ambition. The three starred kitchens run very different programmes — Chesery is classical Franco-Swiss built around Chef Robert Speth's 40-year tenure; LEONARD's is modern international with Alpine sourcing; Sommet is refined contemporary inside the most architecturally interesting hotel in the valley. You can (and some visitors do) eat at all three over a long weekend.

Beyond the starred three, La Bagatelle, MEGU, Ermitage's gastronomic room and Sonnenhof in Saanen all appear in the Michelin Guide's recommended list. These are serious kitchens that sit in the 15-17 Gault Millau range and are much easier to book, often at 60-70% of the starred tasting-menu price. For many visitors they are the smarter choice.

Winter peak booking (mid-December to end of February, plus Easter week) requires 4-6 weeks notice at Chesery and Sommet. Outside those windows 1-2 weeks is usually enough. Cancellation policies are strict — most hold a card and charge CHF 100-180 per no-show. We handle the booking for you and chase the restaurant if dietary adjustments need confirming.

Frequently asked

How many Michelin-starred restaurants are in the Gstaad valley?

Three confirmed for 2026: Chesery, LEONARD's at Le Grand Bellevue, and Sommet at The Alpina Gstaad. All three hold one star.

What is the difference between "starred" and "listed" in the Michelin Guide?

Starred restaurants are ranked one, two or three stars. Listed (or "recommended") are restaurants Michelin inspectors thought good enough to include without awarding a star.

How far ahead should I book a Gstaad Michelin table?

4-6 weeks ahead for peak winter weeks (December 20-January 5, February school holidays, Easter week). 1-2 weeks ahead the rest of the year. Walk-in is essentially impossible at Chesery or Sommet.

Do the Michelin restaurants offer vegetarian tasting menus?

Yes, all three. Notify the kitchen 24-48 hours ahead. Full vegan menus are possible with 72 hours notice at Chesery and LEONARD's.

How much does a Michelin tasting menu cost in Gstaad?

CHF 180-220 for entry-tier (5 courses), CHF 280-350 for signature (7-9 courses). Wine pairing adds CHF 95-180. Water, bread, amuse-bouches included.
