Summer 2026 Gstaad Restaurants

Gstaad is quieter in summer than in winter but far from empty — the Menuhin Festival (mid-July to early September), the Swiss Open tennis (July), the Hublot Polo Gold Cup (August) and the general hiking-and-cycling visitor pressure keeps the village busy from late June through mid-September. Restaurants are easier to book in summer but the best terraces still fill for early-evening sunset dinners. This guide covers summer-specific dining: terraces, mountain Berghaus restaurants, festival dinners, lakeside lunches at Lauenensee and Arnensee.

Terrace dining is the summer signature. Most valley restaurants open their outdoor sections from mid-June to mid-September. The best-positioned terraces: Olden (facing the Promenade), Chesery (south-facing garden), Sonnenhof (valley view), Alpenrose (Rinderberg-facing), the mountain berghaus restaurants (full panoramas).

Summer mountain lunches are one of the great Saanenland pleasures — hike up 2 hours, reach a berghaus terrace, eat rösti and cheese with a Dôle or a Chasselas looking across to the Jungfrau massif. Most berghaus restaurants operate late June to mid-October, with a 2-month closure in November.

The Menuhin Festival concerts often end around 21:30-22:00, which makes dinner bookings either pre-concert (17:30-19:00) or post-concert (22:00-23:30). A handful of Gstaad restaurants extend their serving hours for festival dates; we can steer you to those.
